PRODUB PERFORMANCE is a small machine workshop that has been producing specialist components for performance engines since 1984. Neville Naismith has focused on VW engine components for applications such as Formula Vee and other classes of racing, drag-volkswagons, hillclimb, performance street cars, for engines being restored to original condition and for show cars.

Other components such as crankshafts, conrods, flywheels, pulleys can be made to order or modified as required for Chrysler, Ford, Holden and Chev.

VW Engine Building: 

No long or short motors. These engines are finished units; they have been started, run, tuned and had their first oil change.

Conrods

Standard Replacement Conrods:     

~ Replace small end bush and pin bore to new size.
~ Redrill oiling holes
~ Resize (strip and machine both halves)
~ Align and straighten

Conrod centre to centre distance held within 0.003”

Weight Reduction or Lightening:

~ Big End width reduction

Shotpeening:

Machining of damaged face on crankshaft caused by flywheel coming loose

Crack Testing

Magnesium Welding:

~ General cracks
~ Solid weld behind No. 3 cylinder

M8 Unbrako bolt conversion (M8 stud replacement)

M6 Unbrako bolt conversion (oil strainer and sump plug plate)

Machining down of lifter housings for increased camshaft lobe lift

Stripped-out thread repairs

Oil Gallery Enlargement:

Spot facing/ remachining the areas where the case securing the washers and nuts make contact with the case

Flywheels

Clutch plate contact surface is machined to remove:

~ Hard spots
~ Heat cracks
~ Heat affected areas

Machining this contact surface also produced a clean flat face for a new clutch to run on
Machining of the clutch plate contact surface, both single and stepped types

Mounting of pressure plate to flywheel

Full dimensional flywheel true-up:


~ All surfaces and diameters machined true to flywheel axis    
~ This operation can also be done using the crankshaft as a master

The flywheel is set up on the crankshaft, then all flywheel surfaces and diameters are remachined
true to the crankshaft axis

Convert VW flywheels with 180mm diameter clutches out to accommodate 200mm diameter clutches

Convert  VW 6 volt flywheels to 12 volt and 12 volt flywheels to 6 volt.
